Default No-Timer Dunes of Despair Bonus?

Is it possible to do this with henchmen? I will get Necrotic Traversal, but that will only get me across, not the henchies.

Has anybody been able to lure all the bosses in henchman range? I don't think my Ranger/Necro is able to get them all solo. However, if you have any powerful Ranger/Necro solo builds, I'd appreciate seeing them. Note that I don't have many Necro skills, just a couple elites (recent professin change).

I don't have access to heroes, and getting people to do this is remarkable hard, as most are only interested in doing the mission.

I've been trying this for a while now, and is the only bonus I'm lacking for the Protector title.

Help would be appreciated.

Actually, If you transport across, get out of range of the henchies (so that their names grey out), and cancel the flag (that you place where you use NT), then the henchies transport across. Abuse now, get confused later.

I did dunes of Depair last night with a Dervish/Necro and we used heroes, i was playing a ranger, cleared the outside, and the throne area but left the ghost heroe outside on ramp so as not to activated the timer, and we left a hero monk with the ghost as we went to the far south gate, in the upper area as i proceded to barrage the generals and his henchmen plus some scarabs, killed to of the generals this way, dervish had olias with him and used necrotic transversal with olias used the corps to raise a flesh golem and some mininos and killed the last general, easy bonus.

I don't have access to heroes, unfortunately, or this would have been done long ago.

How were you able to hit the generals without getting across? The times I went through the mission, none were in flatbow range.

After trying several times, I came to the conclusion that Anet has fixed this. The Bonus objective only appears when the timer starts, not before it.

Luring doesn't work.

So... anybody feel like giving me a hand with this? :/

This type of mission was aimed at forced socialization. (You have to ask for help from other players). GW no doubt thought it was a good idea. Trouble is most pugs, well you know the drill.

I REALLY hope ANET gets away from this "forced socialization" thing in GW:EN and GW2. This bonus has been a real pain... because getting into a good PUG is really hard. If I want to play with other people... I'll PvP... otherwise, I'll stick to gaming with my friends (who unfortunately have all left GW until GW2 comes out).

Yeah, that is something worth "oh " ing about, especially for those of us who've had such horrible PuG experience, we'd rather do EVERYTHING with henchies, no matter how much harder that makes the ascension missions.

i find it easier to start the timer, fight the first round of forgotten and kill the general right outside, run back to ghostly and kill the boss coming. then one monk stays behind to heal ghostly while others finish the 3 bosses. interrupters and nukers are very important to kill fast. with cooperation, there might be still over 1 minute left.

Lol, don't complain then...

Annoying as it is, it's fun.

[skill]healing hands[/skill][skill]healing seed[/skill][skill]blessed aura[/skill]

+20% enchanting weapon.

Monk can hold ghost alone with these skills while team completes bonus. You cast on ghost, and run back and repeat, avoiding aggro yourself.

Not sure if this can work in HM, untested.

course you'll need 2 real people ;0

I've had Tahlk do that job fine with life bond/barrier/mending/divine spirit.

I've also heard that if all humans stay in the fort, the AI around the ghostly can't activate because it's too far from players, so he's not in any trouble anyway.

Meh.... I dealt with the Mission and Bonus separately.

Just set the timer going, killed everything that came in (and one of the siege wurms) until the first general came.
When it was all cleared out, I made an instant beeline to the south gate with my whole group, charged through it and slaughterised the generals... No problem.

O'course the ghost was telling me that enemies were approaching... and we ignored him (mostly because I read that he carried on saying that even if they weren't) and he then died....
... It can only have been the siege wurm on the OTHER side shooting him from long range... I can't imagine what else would have done it, but it doesn't matter now since I got the bonus....

Hard Mode though?
I dread to think how rough that'll be.

I plan on going back there again to port out and get exploring... for the GMC title.

I did it, so the bonus *can* be done with henches without using necrotic traversal or the henches ability to teleport through walls.

It's very easy with necrotic traversal, though.

I have done it with most of my characters (all but one with henchies only, no heroes). I tried using Necrotic, but I couldn't ever finish them off by myself so I went ahead and just tried it without tricking the system. You just have to make sure you bring enough power to kill the monsters as fast as possible so you don't waste all your time defending the ghost (wiki has all the good directions on how to do it easily...where to go and whatnot).

Also, (directed especially to Numa) you have to hurry back because in my experience, there are a few extra monsters that come in to kill the ghost near the end (contrary to what wiki says). He died the first time I tried it and almost on the second as well. It is close, but you should have enough time to run back and save him (it is REALLY close if the monk boss is there)
